I don't know, Duckstation standalone works fine for me out of the box without any special settings in launchbox to launch a game. Nvm, I figured it out; for some reason, the full-screen command line wasn't allowing it to open, so I just fiddled with some settings in Duckstation to assign the full-screen toggle to my controller.

Can't speak for OP, but Playnite is a great game launcher with a built-in "big picture" esque mode. It has plugins to read all your libraries across many storefronts. You can configurate steps to run before and after a game started. After once configuring any emulator, you can let it automatically create entries for your roms.

Steam's Retroarch executable works from Launchbox, but when viewing the Steam library, the game appears ready to play, thus not taking advantage of Steam's benefits. I know you can switch to the Steam version executable manually, but doing so makes Retroarch work normally without any issues, but without the Steam features.
